Maranatha Christian 20, Calvary Christian 19

As stated in the Preview to this game, it would be a good game to eventually decide the race for the Ocean League title. In a hard fought battle the Calvary Christian Royal Knights would fall to the Maranatha Christian Eagles 20-19 in Week 7 of the PPR.

All the scoring in this game would be done in the second half once our cameras had left. In the first play of the game from scrimmage the Calvary Christian Royal Knights would come out swinging with some trickery. It would be the wide out Harris receiving the handoff from the running back to eventual throw to a wide open quarter back down the field Moises Hernandez who would fumble on the run and recover making it a 53 yard pick up. That wouldn’t be enough for the Royal Knights as they would turn over on downs 4 plays later. Then it was the Eagles turn to take a crack at the end zone, but Atiba Johnson would intercept the pass in the end zone and take it back to his own 5 yard line. They Eagles would force the Royal Knights to punt. On the Eagles second position a pass interference call would get them to the 12 yard line where Isaac Shwan would take the hand off and go the 12 yards for the score, 07-00 Eagles.

The rest of the first half was a defensive battle as both teams took shots at the end zone. Calvary Christian would get down to the goal line and be stopped by the Eagles. Then with under a minute to go the on Eagles would drop back to pass to only be intercepted, this time by Quentin Harrison.

The game would finish 20-19. The game winning TD would come on the back of Mr. Schwan with 4 seconds left in the game.

Next week Maranatha Christian will host The Rock Academy in the Eagles homecoming game, as for Calvary Christian, after a bye week they will host Calvin Christian at Olympian High school on October 27th.
