Marine motorcyclist killed in hit and run
OCEANSIDE – A motorcyclist was killed in a hit and run Thursday according to Oceanside Police. The incident happened in the 300 block of Douglas Drive near La Hacienda Restaurant.
The motorcyclist was subsequently flown to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for treatment. The motorcyclist suffered major head blunt trauma and was placed on life support. The motorcyclist succumbed to his injury and died.
The victim is identified as Brandon Joseph Bizzaro, 22 years of age, and an active duty Marine.
The driver of the hit and run vehicle was taken to the police station where he was interviewed. Based on the investigation the driver was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility for felony hit and run. It is unknown if alcohol and speed are factors in this collision.
Witnesses reported a motorcyclist down and a large Budget Rental truck leaving the scene.
Officers arrived and found the motorcyclist down and unresponsive. They immediately began CPR.
