Marine veteran, actor R. Lee Ermey buried at Arlington National Cemetery
ARLINGTON (KUSI)- Marine veteran and actor R. Lee Ermey was buried in Arlington National Cemetery today. He is best known for his role as a drill sergeant in the Academy Award nominated movie Full Metal Jacket.
Ermey died from complications from pneumonia last April.
He was buried today at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. Nearly 100 of his friends and family came to pay their respects.
The former marine and Vietnam veteran was according a casket team, firing party, bugler and folding and presentation of the American flag.
After Ermey retired from the military, he enjoyed a career in acting, appearing in movies like Apocalypse Now, Seven, and Full Metal Jacket.
Ermey was 74 when he died.
