Mayor Kevin Faulconer discusses homelessness on Good Morning San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer stopped by Good Morning San Diego to discuss homelessness in the City and the County.

Reports from the City show homelessness is down 6 percent in San Diego County in 2019 if directly compared to 2018. There are about 8,100 homeless individuals in the county, and about 5,000 of those are in the City, according to Mayor Faulconer’s Office.

Mayor Faulconer said his “Clean SD” crews have cleared more than 3,600 tons of trash off of sidewalks, alleys, canyons and other public areas (including mattresses, shopping carts and appliances). That’s enough to fill up 55,000 regular trash bins.
