Mayor Rebecca Jones on impact of San Marcos Creek project on the city

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – It’s a big day for San Marcos! The groundbreaking ceremony for the San Marcos Creek project is happening Wednesday morning.

When construction is completed, there will be new and safer ways for resident to travel around the Creek, a new park to use as a community and preserved habitat to protect the area around the creek.

Some of the project’s benefits include minimize flooding risks, preserve and enhance 1.5 miles of creek habitat, new community park and trails, and building new infrastructure including two bridges.

San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones told us all about the project and how it will benefit the city of San Marcos on Good Morning San Diego.

Later Wednesday morning, KUSI’s Hunter Sowards spoke with the communications director of the City of San Marcos, Robin Rockey, about the project from the site itself.
