Men attempted to steal ATM by chaining it to pickup truck in Rancho Penasquitos

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A group of men attempted to steal an ATM from a CVS store in Rancho Penasquitos by chaining it to a stolen pickup truck.

According to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali, the three or four men set off the alarm at the CVS on Twin Trains Drive near Black Mountain Road around 4:15 a.m. but were gone by the time officers arrived.

The men apparently chained the ATM to a Ford F-250 truck, but only managed to badly damage the machine.

The truck was found abandoned near the CVS store.
