Men save sea lion in Torrey Pines who was caught in netting

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A group of people walking the beach in Torrey Pines came to the rescue of a sea lion Thursday.

The group of men noticed the sea lion struggling along the shore with some kind of wire or chord wrapped around its neck and stepped in to help.

The men said after they cut one of the wires free from the sea lion’s neck, they were told by SeaWorld and Lifeguards who arrived on scene to step away from it.

We’ve contacted SeaWorld for an update on the animal, but haven’t heard anything new on his condition.
