MEO identifies woman killed in hit-and-run
VISTA (KUSI) – Medical Examiner’s Office identified a 41-year-old transient woman who was fatally struck on a Vista roadside.
Authorities said Sarah Esther Wade and a male companion were struck from behind while walking, the driver did not stop after the crash. They were found lying on the shoulder of Sycamore Avenue near South Melrose Drive Friday night. The vehicle involved was described as a late 90s Lexus ES-300 with damage to the passenger side and side mirror, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office and the sheriff’s department.
Wade was taken to Palomar Medical Center and died the following morning, authorities said. The second victim declined medical treatment.
