Mexican drug cartel teen hitman a U.S. citizen
A teen who has admitted to working as a hitman for a Mexican drug cartel has been confirmed as a U.S. Citizen. 14-year-old Edgar Jimenez Lugo, was born in San Diego.
Known as “El Ponchis” he has admitted to taking part in four beheadings for the cartel.
Jimenez is currently being held in Mexico. The U.S. Consulate says Jimenez will get all of the resources of a U.S. citizen arrested abroad, including checking on his welfare and giving him information about attorneys.
The teen was captured Thursday at an airport in Cuernavaca, the capital of Morelos state, as he and one of his older sisters were about to board a flight to Tijuana, from which they intended to cross into the United States.
