Mexico investigating third possible coronavirus case, patient is from Imperial County

EL CENTRO, Calif. – Mexico is investigating their third possible coronavirus (COVID-19) case.

Mexico health officials said Friday they are observing a 28-year-old woman from El Centro, Calif. at a Mexicali hospital. The woman’s identity has not yet been released.

They say she may have got infected during a trip to different European countries.

When she came back from her trip, she first arrived in Imperial County and then went to Mexico, where she is now under quarantine. It’s unclear how many days she was in El Centro or who she had contact with before heading to Cancun, Mexico.

There are two other confirmed cases in Mexico, one in Mexico City and the other in the Northern state of Sinaloa.

No other information was immediately available.
