Minimum wage increases across the nation
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The minimum wage is set to go up to fifteen dollars per hour across nearly half of all states in the US next year.
The increase goes into effect January first for 20 states and 26 cities, mostly here in California.
The rest will raise theirs later in the year.
Earlier this year, the US House passed the Raise the Wage Act, to make a 15-dollar minimum wage a federal standard, but it failed in the senate.
However, in 2020 San Diego will raise the minimum wage from 12 to 13 dollars per hour.
