Missing Imperial Beach boy found in Coronado
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 9-year-old boy who left his Imperial Beach home because he was upset about having to do his homework was found safe Wednesday night at the Coronado Naval Base.
Adrian Acosta rode away from his home on the 1400 block of Grove Avenue around 6:30 p.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Acosta’s mother told deputies they had an argument about doing his homework and when she woke from a nap he was gone. A teacher who recognized Adrian saw him talking to a homeless person between 6:30-7 p.m., authorities said.
Around 10 p.m. Adrian approached guards at the gate of Naval Base Coronado around 10 p.m. Authorities said he had ridden his bicycle there from home, a distance of about 8 1/2 miles.
