Missing man’s body found floating in ocean

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Authorities Saturday revealed the identity of the dead man found floating in the ocean off South Mission Beach Friday afternoon.

37-year-old Scott Braswell Bowles of Ocean Beach was found floating near Oceanfront Walk in San Diego, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. No cause of death was given.

A kayaker made the discovery just outside the surf line shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The body appeared to have been in the water for “quite some time,” SDFRD Capt. Joe Amador said.

The county Medical Examiner’s Office was called in to take custody of the remains.
