Mission Hills 21, Torrey Pines 17

San Marcos – It was a shootout at Jack Ashby Field on Friday night. Number 3 ranked team in San Diego Mission Hills Grizzlies hosted the Torrey Pines Falcons. The atmosphere was abuzz with the anticipation of the kickoff. Both teams were looking to bounce back after losing to top teams from Utah. Grizzlies’ Quarterback Dakota Miller, led Mission Hills to victory. The Falcons were defeated by a score of 21-17.

It was Torrey Pines that struck first. After a couple big runs, including a 21 yard run by Matthew Feeler, the Falcons increased their lead. Quinn Morimoto punched it into the end zone with a 2 yard touchdown run, 10-0 Falcons. The Grizzly response was immediate. Dakota Miller scrambled from the 10 yard line and kept to ball score. Still, in the 2nd quarter, it was Miller was once again who extended the lead, this time via a 59 yard run down the sideline. Falcons’ Quarterback Caden Miller and Wide Receiver Jack Bailey connected for a 60 yard touchdown. Mission Hills star DeChaun Holiday made a nice one handed grab to increase the gap between the two teams. Troy Warner picked off Caden Kelley to ice the game and give Mission Hills the victory.

The spectators at Grizzly Stadium were witnesses to a great showdown on the gridiron. Both teams provided plenty of big plays for worthy of big cheers. Torrey Pines now sit at 0-2 after consecutive losses, they will travel to Cathedral Catholic to face the Dons. Mission Hills improved to a 1-1 record. Next up for the Grizzlies is the Bonita Vista Barons. It was a great Friday night under the lights.
