Mission Hills 49, Vista 7

VISTA – Dakota Miller threw for 5 touchdowns, including three to Martrel Holmes, as the Mission Hills Grizzlies spoiled the Vista Panthers’ Halloween senior night, 49-7. Holmes is the most sought after recruit from San Diego county as he’s already gotten offers from over 20 colleges, including the likes of SDSU, ASU, Oregon, and Boise State.

Mission Hills improves to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in Avocado East League play, tied atop the league standings with San Marcos. Next week’s game against the Knights will determine the league champions. Meanwhile, Vista falls to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in league.

The game was all but decided as the Grizzlies held a 28-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, after a 50 yard touchdown reception by Holmes. The rain began at halftime, but that didn’t stop the Grizzlies as they tacked on 2 more scores in the second half.
