Mission Hills church floods after water main breaks

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A water main break in the Mission Hills area flooded a nearby church and left several area utility customers without running water Monday morning.

A 12-inch diameter cement water pipe ruptured near the intersection of Fort Stockton Drive and Lark Street shortly after 5 a.m., according to a spokesman for the city public utilities department.

Photos captured from the scene showed water pouring down a set of stairs outside the Mission Hills United Methodist Church on before utility crews shut the water off at approximately 6:20 a.m.

Six utility customers in the 1400 block of Fort Stockton Drive were left without water service.
