Mission Valley shooting victims identified

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A woman shot to death and a man critically wounded at
a shopping mall in Mission Valley on Christmas Eve have been identified.

Ilona Flint, 22, died of a head wound, and Salvatore Belvedere, also 22,
was hospitalized in critically condition with head and body wounds suffered
in the 1:30 a.m. shooting at Macy's at the Westfield Mission Valley Mall.

Flint apparently made the 911 call to report the shooting.

Belvedere was hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Scripps Mercy
Hospital, but it's unclear if he has been able to speak with police.

The shooting happened near a Christmas tree lot and the Macy's, which
was open until 2 a.m. to accommodate Christmas shoppers. Both were found in a
black Toyota Camry with Utah license plates, police said.

A possible suspect — described only as a man up to about 5 feet 11
inches in tan pants — may have fled in dark gray 2008-2011 Honda, police said.

Anyone with more information was urged to call detectives at (619) 531-
2293 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
