Monte Vista 57, El Cajon Valley 7
The Monarchs of Monte Vista were able to pull through with a huge win as they hosted the El Cajon Valley Braves, final score 57-7.
Monte Vista definitely put on a show for their homecoming game and the big crowd that they had tonight due to not only homecoming but also the hall of fame inductees that were announced and coach Ron Hamamoto being presented with the coach of the week title and check.
In the first quarter the Monarchs were on a mission to make a huge gap between the scores and they succeeded with the first play of the night; running back Tre Owens ran 31 yards for their first points on the board. Next it was Lee Wade Jr. That decided to take the ball in with the 1 yarder putting them up 14-0. Again it was Tre Owens, short 8 yard run for another Monarch touch down. Then El Cajon Valley decided to make a big play and scare the Monarchs, Matthew Shearin ran 60 yards for their one and only touch down of the night. With a matching run, Jordan Johnson took the ball 58 yards for yet another Monarchs touch down and the 2 point conversion was good.
In the second quarter it was Tre and Lee both scoring again; Owens with a 30 yard reception and ran 15 yards, and Wade Jr. ran 20 yards for the final touch down before half time. El Cajon Valley is now 2-5 and the Monarchs rise to 5-3.
