Monte Vista Monarchs 45 Santana Sultans 10

Friday October 10th, 2014, at 7PM: The Monte Vista Monarchs (4-3) traveled up north to take down the Santana Sultans (3-4) in their first Valley League match-up 45-10. The Sultans were first on the scoreboard with a 14 yard touchdown run by Zach Lewis to make it 7-0. They stretched their lead later in the second quarter with a 46 yard field goal by Jacob Hanson, 10-0 Sultans. But then the ground impound and miss direction by Monte Vista’s Wing T offense was too much to handle. Lee Wade Jr. started it off with his first touchdown run of the night on a 3 yard score. Later in the second quarter, Jordan Johnson would power his way into the end zone on a close 4th and inches touchdown making it 14-10 Monte Vista.

The second half was all Monte Vista when Christian Tovez had a interception returned for a touchdown bringing the score to 24-10. Later in the third quarter Jordan Johnson would find the end zone for his second score of the night on a 4 yard touchdown run, 31-10 Monarchs. The Monarchs ran away with the game at the end of the third quarter with a 54 yard touchdown run by Lee Wade Jr. Santana will be looking to bounce back next game as both teams will be looking to increase their chances at Valley League champs.
