Granite Hills 30, Monte Vista Monarchs 0

Granite Hills put on a show for their fans that were decked out in pink, as they blew out the Monte Vista Monarchs. Granite Hills won 30-0 and scored all their points in the first half. Senior quarterback Frankie Lucatuorto is out with a fracture in his hand is expected to be back in 2-3 weeks. Sophomore quarterback Jacob Siegfried has taken the starting role and has proven that he has what it takes to help carry this team to victories as he gets his second win in a row as a starter. The Eagles defense was just too much as the Monarchs could not get their offense going. Running back Thomas Youmog had two touchdowns and some big runs to help the Eagles improve to (7-1) on the season and (2-0) in league. The Monarchs fall to (2-7) on the season and (0-3) in league. Granite Hills looks ready for playoffs as we come to our last couple of league games. The Eagles will host the El Cajon Valley Braves in Week 10 in which will be their last regular season home game. The Monarchs will host West Hills for their last game of the season in week 10.

It is Week 9 for high school football and this week the Monte Vista Monarchs (2-6) will hit the road to face the Granite Hills Eagles (6-1). Even though records show the Eagles will take an easy win, that is not the case in football this season. There has been huge upsets this season and that is exactly what the Monarchs will look to do, upset the Eagles. The Monarchs know they will face a very strong team that played in the division 2 championship last season with a lot of those players still returning this season. The Eagles are coming back to play in front of their student section ‘The Eagle’s nest’ after playing the last two on the road. The Eagles are on a five game winning streak and look very promising to be making an appearance in the playoffs again this season.

The Monarchs sophomore quarterback Dennis Dahlin is a dual threat that the Eagles will look to stop. Tre Owens and Elijah Bell have been sharing carries in the backfield and both have the talent to have a huge game. The Eagle’s senior running back Thomas Youmog had a huge game in Week 8 against West Hills as he carried the ball 22 times for 234 rushing yards along with 2 touchdowns. Granite Hills also has a sophomore quarterback, Jacob Siegfried that will look to carry the offense in Week 9.
