PREVIEW:

It is Week 9 for high school football and this week the Monte Vista Monarchs (2-6) will hit the road to face the Granite Hills Eagles (6-1). Even though records show the Eagles will take an easy win, that is not the case in football this season. There has been huge upsets this season and that is exactly what the Monarchs will look to do, upset the Eagles. The Monarchs know they will face a very strong team that played in the division 2 championship last season with a lot of those players still returning this season. The Eagles are coming back to play in front of their student section ‘The Eagle’s nest’ after playing the last two on the road. The Eagles are on a five game winning streak and look very promising to be making an appearance in the playoffs again this season.

The Monarchs sophomore quarterback Dennis Dahlin is a dual threat that the Eagles will look to stop. Tre Owens and Elijah Bell have been sharing carries in the backfield and both have the talent to have a huge game. The Eagle’s senior running back Thomas Youmog had a huge game in Week 8 against West Hills as he carried the ball 22 times for 234 rushing yards along with 2 touchdowns. Granite Hills also has a sophomore quarterback, Jacob Siegfried that will look to carry the offense in Week 9.
