Morse Tigers 39, Mount Miguel Matadors 0
The game may have been a dominant 39-0 shutout by the Morse Tigers over the Mount Miguel Matadors, but both teams had a lot to learn and look forward to for next week. Sharmar Martin, Isaiah Thompson, and Julian Stanford all starred for Morse as the Tigers ran wild.
The first quarter was a good defensive battle until Morse running back Isaiah Thompson scored from 3 yards out. He would add another short touchdown run in the second quarter making the score 14-0 going into halftime.
Thompson was the star in the first half, then he handed the baton off to Julian Stafford for the second half. Stafford picked off a Mount Miguel pass and took it 51 yards to the house, then later on returned a punt for a 53 yard score. All he needed was a touchdown on offense and he would’ve got a real life Xbox achievement. If there was a player of the game award then it definitely belongs to both Stafford and Thompson.
Mount Miguel head coach Troy Starr is no stranger to success. His team may be starting 0-1 but we can expect them to improve as the season continues. They take on Chula Vista next, while Morse try and move to 2-0 for the first time since 2011 in a home game against Patrick Henry. Tune into the PPR next week to see how the second week of San Diego football unfolds!
