Mostly sunny skies expected for San Diego after marine layer fades

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A thick marine layer hanging over the coast is expected to burn off by mid-morning, leaving behind mostly sunny skies for the rest of the day Tuesday. It is expected to return overnight.

A ridge of high pressure is building right off the coast and by Wednesday it is expected to move East. By Thursday is will hang over San Diego. Temperatures will gradually warm until Thursday, which is expected to be the warmest day of the week for San Diego.

Coastal areas won’t warm up as much as inland areas because of that lingering marine layer. Tuesday’s high temperatures will be 68 degrees along the coast, 73 degrees for inland areas and 67 degrees for the mountains.
