Mother of American killed in Libya blames Clinton for Benghazi attack

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Three of the four Americans killed in the Benghazi attack had ties to San Diego.

Former SEALS, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were private contractors working for the CIA.

Sean Smith was an information specialist with the foreign service.

In the four years since the deadly attack at the U.S. Consulate in Libya, there have been seven previous congressional probes, 15 hearings and 64 briefings.

And Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, has been critical of all of them.

In the living room of her home in Clairemont, Patricia Smith is surrounded by photos of her son.

Smith hasn’t read the 800+ page report by House Republicans, but this grieving mother said she’s certain it won’t give her the answers she’s looking for.

Smith said the State Department has repeatedly ignored her request for more information.

She blames then Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, for refusing to listen to her son Sean and other consular staff who were pleading for more protection.

The report does fault the State Department under the leadership of Hillary Clinton for failing to recognize the growing security threats, but the panel did not cite Clinton directly for many criminal wrongdoing.

Congressional Republicans also take the military to task, because it did not execute orders from then Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, to send out additional forces to save the Americans under siege.

Patricia Smith says there is plenty of blame to go around, but in her view, Clinton has to answer for the death of her son.
