Motorcycle rider injured in Miramar crash

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 73-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday when he crashed his motorcycle near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

The rider was heading east in the 7000 block of Miramar Road when he tried to make a lane change and sideswiped a car traveling alongside him shortly after 9:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.

The motorcyclist tumbled onto the roadway, suffering severe internal injuries, SDPD Officer Frank Cali said. Medics took him to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

The 71-year-old man behind the wheel of the car was uninjured.

The wreck left several traffic lanes blocked near Distribution Avenue until shortly before noon.
