Motorcyclist found dying next to bike on side of the road
OCEANSIDE (CNS) – A motorcyclist was found dying next to his wrecked bike after he apparently ran off the road and into a fence near the Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside, a police sergeant said Sunday.
The fatally-injured rider was found on the ground in the 1000 block of Village Drive after the crash around 1:25 p.m. Saturday, Oceanside police Sgt. Gabe Jimenez said.
Bystanders and fire personnel tried to assist the downed rider, however his injuries proved fatal and he died at the scene, Jimenez said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
Jimenez said that although the investigation was ongoing, it appeared the motorcyclist had veered off the road and struck the fence. Investigators were working to determine if speed was a factor in the crash, the sergeant said.
Jimenez asked anyone with information on the crash to call an accident investigator at (760) 435-4624.
