Motorcyclist in hospital following attempted wheelie in Logan Heights

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A motorcyclist who attempted to pop a wheelie in Logan Heights was in the hospital with serious injuries Tuesday morning after colliding with a car.

Just before 10 p.m. Monday night, the 23-year-old rider ran a red light at the intersection of South 32nd Street and Oceanview Boulevard. After blowing through the light and attempting a wheelie on his motorcycle, he crashed into an oncoming sedan.

The 30-year-old driver of the sedan did not see the rider coming in his direction due to both his high rate of speed and the bike’s glaring headlight, police said.

The rider of the motorcycle was sent to the hospital with traumatic, life-threatening injuries to his head and body.
