Motorcyclist killed, pregnant woman hospitalized after collision on San Diego Mission Road

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A 28-year-old man was killed Monday when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in the Grantville section of San Diego.

The crash was reported about 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of Rancho Mission and San Diego Mission roads, according to San Diego Police Department Officer Robert Heims.

The victim was on a 2017 Suzuki, headed south on Rancho Mission Road, approaching a red light at San Diego Mission Road, Heims said.

A 30-year-old woman driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra was eastbound on San Diego Mission Road approaching a green light, according to Heims.

"The motorcyclist was speeding and ran the red light, T-boning the car in the middle of the intersection,” Heims said. "The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The driver of the car complained of pain and was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Heims said.
