Mountain View SWAT stand-off ends with arrest of murder suspect

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A nearly seven-hour SWAT standoff at a home in
Mountain View, where a man was killed, ended early Thursday when a woman he was
apparently dating was arrested on suspicion of murder.

It began about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 3700 block of Franklin Avenue
and ended shortly after 4 a.m., according to San Diego police.

Paramedics were called to treat a severely injured man, who was found
lying on the sidewalk outside the home. The man ended up dying, and when
officers went to question a woman who lives in the home, she refused to
cooperate and holed up in the residence, SDPD Officer David Stafford said.

At one point, the woman yelled obscenities at officer and forcibly shut
a door when they tried to approach her, police said.

Shortly after 4 a.m., SWAT officers entered the home and took the 58-
year-old Georgette Cramer Cervantes into custody, homicide Lt. Mike Hastings
said. Police also escorted Cervantes' mother out of the home, though she was
not arrested.

The suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, was apparently in
some kind of dating relationship with the victim, who was 50 years old and died
of blunt force trauma to his head, Hastings said.

The motive was under investigation.
