Mt. Carmel 13, Ramona 49

To open up Palomar League play Ramona making a statement with a 49-13 win over Mt Carmel.

In the first quarter Ramona would open the scoring with junior running back Brandon Gansch. In the second Mt. Carmel would answer back with their running back Rashid Shaheed to tie the game at 7. But that apparently woke up the Bulldogs.

Gansch would take it 78 yards for the score and the momentum shifts away from Mt. Carmel. Then Garrett Binkley would come up with the 41 yard touchdown from quarterback Marco Cobian. Mt. Carmel’s quarterback Lucas Johnson struggling to get some offense going throws into a Binkley pick. From that point that was the bulldogs game. Gansch would finish with 4 touchdowns. Binkley would finish with 2 picks. Mt. Carmel struggled to get any other points on the board except for a fumble recovery late in the 4th quarter.

Mt. Carmel now heads into week 8 with a 4-2 record and will host Poway High School.

For the bulldogs the bye week last week helped them get some key members healthy as they hope to make a run in league and build off their strong 5-1 start. Up next for Ramona will be Westview High School.
