Mt. Carmel 20, San Pasqual 13

The  Mt. Carmel Sundevils took control late in the game and defeated the San Pasqual Golden Eagles on Mt. Carmel’s home turf. The Sundevils are sitting with a record of 4-1, while the Golden Eagles are still hungry for a win with a record of 0-4 in their season.

San Pasqual came out battling to keep pace with Mt. Carmel. Both teams were struggling to keep hold on the ball, Mt. Carmel with more success. San Pasqual put up a good 1st half fight but three interceptions by Sundevil #80 William Jones alone helped the Mt. Carmel defense put a damper on any hopes of a San Pasqual win.

Mt. Carmel #11 Dakota Jones was the big pass receptor of the evening catching the big plays when needed. #7 Quarterback Lucas Johnson took advantage of his running ability and field advantage and opted to run with three touchdowns credited the keeper for the evening.

The Mt. Carmel Sundevils home field advantage and a big homecoming crowd bolstered their performance. High penalty yardage against the San Pasqual team did much to dampen their spirit but credit is due the Mt. Carmel control over the game in the fourth quarter managed the win and quieted the smaller but boisterous San Pasqual crowd.

Quarterback Lucas Johnson was successful leading his team to the 20-13 win. His passing and rushing yardage for the evening totaled 270.

Mt. Carmel takes on Ramona at an away conference game @ Ramona on Friday, Oct 10. San Pasqual faces El Camino at El Camino on Friday, Oct 3.
