Music line-up for San Diego County Fair
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The Grammy Award-winning band Switchfoot heads the lineup of musical acts at this year's San Diego County Fair, and tickets for paid shows go on sale Saturday, fair officials announced Thursday.
San Diego-based Switchfoot will perform June 17. The show is free with fair admission.
The five band members won their first Grammy last month in the Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album category for “Hello Hurricane.”
Shows with paid admission on top of regular fair admission are:
— Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae: Hooligans in Wondaland, June 11;
— Melissa Etheridge, June 18;
— Willie Nelson's Country Throwdown, June 23;
— Come Together 2011 with MercyMe and Third Day, June 24; and
— Travis Tritt and The Charlie Daniels Band, June 28.
Free acts include Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, the Beach Boys, Doobie Brothers, Randy Travis, Larry Hernandez, Neon Trees, the seventh annual gospel festival featuring Kirk Franklin, and REO Speedwagon with the Navy Band Southwest.
Tickets for paid shows or reserved seats go on sale Saturday at the Durante Gate box office, Ticketmaster or ticketmaster.com.
The fair, with a theme this year of “Race to the Fair,” opens a 22-day run on June 10.
