Music teacher at Bonita Vista High arrested on allegations of sexual relationship with student

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) — A Bonita Vista High School music teacher is facing child molestation charges for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with one of his male students over a several-year period, authorities reported Thursday.

Jason Mangan-Magabilin, 38, surrendered to Chula Vista police Wednesday morning and was booked into county jail on suspicion of 13 counts of sexual contact with a minor, Capt. Lon Turner said. Authorities became aware of the alleged crimes only recently, when a 22-year-old man came forward with the accusations. He alleged he had been molested at the Otay Lakes Road campus on various occasions at age 15 and again when he was 17, the captain said.

The suspect was released from custody on bail. His initial court appearance in the case is scheduled for Aug. 4, a jail clerk said.
