Natural History Museum Canyoneer Hikes in San Diego County

It’s canyoneer season! Get out and explore San Diego with a free, guided nature hike.

Canyoneer Bob Gordon visited the studio Saturday to talk about the Natural History Museum’s Guided Tour experience.

San Diegans can experience local hiking trails like never before by participating in a free, guided nature hike. The 2018-2019 Canyoneer season kicked off last weekend and continues through June.

Canyoneers are volunteers who have had training by Museum scientists and local experts on the natural history of the region. One of the few trail-guide groups nationwide affiliated with a natural history museum rather than a park or reserve, Canyoneers have provided free guided tours in San Diego County since 1973.

The Canyoneers have also published a book (two years ago) called Coast to Cactus: The Canyoneer Trail Guide to San Diego Outdoors. Good option if you prefer to hike on your own.
