Navy christens new Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Pacific commander during ceremony
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Pacific commander Capt. Larry Vincent was relieved of his position with the Navy during a ceremony at Naval Air Station North Island Thursday. Capt. Ben Reynolds will step into the role as Vincent moves on to become chief of staff to the commander of U.S. naval forces for Europe and Africa.
Reynolds will oversee 10 helicopter sea combat squadrons, a fleet replacement squadron, a weapons and tactics school and an unmanned aerial vehicle detachment. Capt. Reynold’s new responsibilities include NAS North Island; Naval Facility Atsugi, Japan; Anderson Air Force Base in Yigo, Guam; and NAS Point Mugu in Oxnard. His staff will manage over 3,700 military personnel and over 150 aircrafts.
Reynolds was previously commander of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 6 under Vincent.
