Neighborhood watch group ‘Guardian Angels’ starts new chapter in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A group of people who live in Pacific Beach are so fed up with crime, they’re taking action by starting a local chapter of a national volunteer neighborhood watch group.

The Guardian Angels crime fighting organization hopes to be patrolling the streets of Pacific Beach by the beginning of December. They say this is in response to the rising crime rate in Pacific Beach.

The organization’s members are trained in martial arts, first aid and conflict resolution. They are hoping to lend a helping hand to San Diego Police in addressing crime in Pacific Beach.

The Guardian Angels invited members of the public to become volunteers at the Wednesday meeting of the Pacific Beach Town Council.

The Pacific Beach chapters is planning to meet with members of the San Diego Police Department in the next few days before they start patrolling in the coming months.

The volunteer organization started in 1979 in New York.
