New bill putting a stop to gender price discrimination

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Ever feel like you’re being overcharged for an item? A new California bill is trying to put a stop to gender pricing discrimination.

The bill, introduced by Senator Ben Hueso, aims at banning this from happening at businesses.

A recent study by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs found that women’s products cost more 42 percent of the time.

And for men, their products cost more only 18 percent of the time.
