New park set to open in East Village

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A new 1.3-acre park was set to open in the East Village Friday morning.

The $3 million Fault Line Park, locate don Island Avenue between 14th and 15th streets, will be the first new park to open since the Park in the Park opened at Petco in 2004. The name is a reference to the Rose Canyon Fault, which is near the site.

The park will include a cafe, seating, shade trees, a variety of play areas for children, multi-purpose lawn area, an intimate garden area and a public art piece, according to Civic San Diego, who oversaw the park’s development.

Fault Line Park will be part of a larger development called ‘Pinnacle on the Park’, where 950 new homes, commercial and retail space, and underground parking will be built.
