New president of the San Diego County Bar Association named

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A business litigation and employment law attorney at a local law firm was named the new president of the San Diego County Bar Association, it was announced Wednesday. Loren Freestone, a partner at Higgs Fletcher & Mack, will begin his 2017 term at an installation dinner in December. Freestone has previously served as the Bar’s secretary and chaired its Ethnic Relations and Diversity Committee and Diversity Fellowship Program.

As president, he will oversee the operations of the region’s oldest and largest law organization that was founded in 1899. "I’ve been involved with the Bar for about nine years. Given my long involvement in the legal community, I felt it was a natural progression," Freestone said. "I’m looking forward to increasing participation from members, including large law firms, by ensuring that everyone has meaningful participation."

Freestone represents and advises employers, corporations and healthcare practitioners in employment disputes, litigation and trial matters, as well as
claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, and wage violations.

"This is one of the greatest honors to be given within our field. Loren is not only an exceptional, respected attorney, but he’s also very active in the legal community," said John Morrell, managing partner at the law firm where Freestone works. "The SDCBA is incredibly fortunate to have someone with his knowledge, skills and leadership abilities taking the helm of their organization.”
