New Study: Genes influence brain cortex structure
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – UC San Diego researchers say they now have evidence for a genetic influence on a brain structure critical to intelligence.
The researchers found that changes in the thickness of the brain’s cortex are linked to its genetically determined organization.
According to the study, individual differences in the cortex of middle-aged and older adult are grounded in the brain’s original development and genetic factors affect changes in the cortex throughout life.
Doctor William Kremen sat down with KUSI to explain this new research.
