Normal Heights water main break closes onramp

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Around 50 businesses and homes found themselves without water Tuesday morning following a water main break in Normal Heights.

A 47-year-old concrete water main ruptured underneath the onramp from Madison Avenue to the northbound 805.

The break occurred on a pipe at the intersection of 32nd Street and Madison Avenue, which knocked out water service to the 4600 and 4700 blocks of Madison Avenue.

Several business and apartment buildings occupy the affected area.

The area was closed while crews attempted to fix the break and water was restored about 1 p.m.

The freeway connector was reopened shortly after 2:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
