North County Game of the Week Recap: El Camino 38, San Pasqual 6

The El Camino Wildcats (4-1) Maul the San Pasqual Eagles (0-5) in the North County Game of the Week 38-6, to extend their winning streak to four games.

In a match up that favored the Wildcats on paper, it turned out exactly like it looked on paper. El Camino Receiver/Returner Eric Wilson caught a touchdown and returned a kick-off 93 yards for another score, while Senior QB Sergio Lopez threw two touchdowns and ran in another.

Both Wilson and Lopez credited Wildcats head coach Eric Roberts. “I think it’s the coaching”, Said Lopez. Coach Roberts wants us to be better very week. Actually he wants us to be excellent at everything that we do. So I give the credit to Coach Roberts.”

“This game meant a lot to us, because they beat us the last two times in the playoffs,” said Wilson.

The Wildcats moved swiftly down the field on their 1st drive of the game, highlighted by a fade route from Lopez to Wilson who made a leaping catch over the San Pasqual defensive back for the 1st score of the game.

The Eagles answered on their second drive of the game going 61 yards, with the drive ending in a Chad Nelson 4 yard touchdown run, to cut the lead to 7-6. After that it was all downhill for the Eagles.

Wilson made his presence known, on the ensuing kick off fielding the ball at the seven yard line, from there seven San Pasqual defenders tried to tackle him, but instead wilson’s kick return turned into the highlight of the week on the PPR going 93 yards for the score and a 14-6 lead.

El Camino played impressive defense as well holding the winless Eagles to less than 100 yards of total offense, while forcing 3 turnovers.

Next Friday (Oct. 10) El Camino will travel to La Costa Canyon (4-1) to open up Avocado West league play. While San Pasqual will have their best shot of the year to get win number one, when they travel to Valley Center (2-3) on Friday.
