Oceanside City Clerk’s office, Poway Senior Center, and 12 county libraries accepting mail-in ballots
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The Oceanside City Clerk’s office, the Poway Senior Center and 12 county libraries began accepting mail-in ballots Moday Mondayhe Nov. 4 general election.
Until now, mail-in ballots could be dropped off only at the Registrar of Voters office in Kearny Mesa, but Registrar of Voters Michael Vu said his office would accept ballots at 14 additional sites until Nov. 3.
“The number of voters who opt to vote by mail continues to rise and this new program will help with the timely return of mail ballots, decrease the high volume of voters dropping off mail ballots at polling places, and expand our services,” Vu said.
County officials said that voters quickly returning their mail ballots speeds up the counting process, and lowers the risk that the mailed ballots would not be delivered before the deadline of 8 p.m. on election day.
The Oceanside City Clerk’s office at 300 North Coast Highway and the Poway Senior Center at 13094 Civic Center Drive will accept ballots during business hours, as will the Dove library branch in Carlsbad and the Civic Center branch in Chula Vista and county libraries in El Cajon, Fallbrook. 4S Ranch, Imperial Beach, San Marcos, Santee, Solana Beach and Vista. In the City of San Diego, the North Park and Pacific Beach libraries will accept ballots.
Registered voters have until Tuesday to request a mail ballot. Each will contains an insert with additional information about the drop-off locations.
