Oceanside elementary school briefly locked down
OCEANSIDE (CNS) – An Oceanside elementary school student who reported
seeing a possibly armed man near the school prompted a campus lockdown Tuesday,
until police determined there was no such threat.
The child told a staffer at Laurel Elementary about seeing the man,
possibly with a gun, just off school grounds shortly after noon, according to
police.
Teachers kept all pupils in their locked classrooms while police
searched the campus and surrounding areas, finding no armed person or any other
threat, Lt. Leonard Mata said.
Police gave an all-clear about 1:20 p.m., dispatcher said.
