Oceanside fight ends in stabbing

OCEANSIDE (CNS) – A 29-year-old Riverside County man was stabbed and seriously injured during a fight with several people at an Oceanside motel early Friday, police said.

Brandon Griffin of Perris was stabbed several times in his abdomen, back and an arm at the Best Western Motel at 909 N. Coast Highway sometime before 2:17 a.m., which is when officers received a report that Griffin had gone to Tri-City Medical Center for help, according to Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Cosby.

Griffin was flown from Tri-City to Scripps La Jolla Hospital because of the severity of his injuries, Cosby said in a statement.

The preliminary investigation revealed there was an altercation between Griffin and as many as eight suspects at Rookies Bar at 2216 El Camino Real and that when Griffin and others in his party left the bar, the suspects followed them to the motel to initiate the fight, Cosby said.

Griffin was expected to survive, he said.
