Castle Park Trojans 55, O’Farrell Charter Falcons 6

Unlike your typical start to the football season, Friday’s matchup between Castle Park and O’Farrell carried a higher amount of nerves. It wasn’t just because of the pressure to begin the season with a win, but because for one team, it was the beginning of their history. The O’Farrell Falcons faced their first football opponent ever, and the Trojans had a less than pleasant way to welcome the football rookies to the world of Friday night lights. It was by handing them their first ever loss, 55-6.

Only six players on O’Farrell’s roster of 35 players had football experience, and it quickly showed. They had no way to stop the Trojan offense who put scored three touchdowns in the first quarter alone. Diego Martinez had two of those thanks to a 64-yard and 20-yard touchdown run.
Falcon’s Coach Tim Baxter said before the game that if there’s something he wanted others to know about his tough group of guys, it’s that they’ll always keep fighting. Despite being outmatched, the fighting spirit could be seen throughout the night as they refused to lay on their backs against the better team.

O’Farrell will play now play it’s second game when they visit 0-1 Calipatria. Castle Park will look to carry their momentum from the win when they visit 0-1 Mar Vista High down in Imperial Beach. For more highlights, tune in to the PPR Friday nights or visit KUSI.com.
