Officers arrest suspect believed to have stolen CHP cruiser

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – On Tuesday, police arrested a man believed to have stolen a California Highway Patrol cruiser and crashing it near State Route 76, in the Fallbrook area.

The man was still wearing handcuffs when he stole and drove off with the cruiser. 

The suspect stole the cruiser, drove it a short distance before crashing and abandoning it.

The suspect then fled on foot in the area of State Route 76 and Gird Road in Fallbrook, a sheriff’s lieutenant confirmed.
