Officials: 3 go to hospital after school shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Firefighters say they have taken three people to the hospital after a shooting at a Portland, Oregon, high school.

Fire Bureau spokesman Terry Foster said Friday he didn’t have information about the conditions of the three people or whether all were gunshot victims.

Police earlier reported that there were at least two victims at the Rosemary Anderson High School. They said one or more suspects fled.

The north Portland school serves at-risk students who were expelled or dropped out, are homeless or are single parents. The enrollment is about 190 students.

Police say there are at least two victims in a shooting at a Portland, Oregon, school.

The police reported the shooting after noon on Friday and said that one or more suspects had fled the Rosemary Anderson High School.

Police didn’t provide details about the conditions of the victims. It is unclear if the victims were shot.

Rosemary Anderson High School is an alternative school that serves at-risk students who were expelled or dropped out, are homeless or single parents. According to the school’s website, 190 students annually are enrolled at the north Portland location. The school also has a second location in Gresham.

Parents have been summoned to the school.

A nearby high school and community college were put on lockdown.

The last school shooting in Portland happened in June. A freshman killed one student and then himself.

Jared Padgett, 15, opened fire after arriving at his high school east of Portland heavily armed. He killed 14-year-old Emilio Hoffman in the boy’s locker room at Reynolds High School in Troutdale and another bullet grazed physical education teacher Todd Rispler. When confronted by officers, Padgett went into a bathroom and died from a self-inflicted gunshot, police said.
