Officials still trying to find cause of Escondido fire
ESCONDIDO (KUSI) – The cause of a fire that damaged an Escondido home and left its residents in need of emergency lodging remained under investigation Monday.
The fire broke out for unknown reasons at the single-story home on East Lincoln Avenue near North Fig Street around 11:20 a.m. Sunday, according to Battalion Chief John Tenger of the Escondido Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived to find fire and thick black smoke billowing from the back of the residence.
Two people were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, according to the battalion chief.
Tenger said the fire was out in about 10 minutes and was contained to the back of the home. Investigators estimated the blaze caused $60,000 in damage.
