Week 2: Poway Titans 14, Olympian Eagles 0

Poway High School over came a slow start and pulled off a victory against the Olympian Eagles tonight on their home turf.
Both teams came out tonight ready to grab a win after both teams lost their season opener games last week. The first and second quarters were a well fought battle between the teams’ defenses as both defensive lines held the offense to keep the score tied at 0-0. Although no points were scored during the first quarter, Olympian had a stellar interception made by #3 Damarian Thomas. Points were put on the board during mid third quarter when Poway High School’s Vance Jefferson ran it in for 10-yard touchdown. Vance Jefferson is one of the teams’ top players as a sophomore and had 11 carries for 62 yards in tonight’s matchup against the eagles. Heading into the fourth quarter with a score of 7-0 the Olympian Eagles look to make a come back but before they could Poway’s Josh Butler runs the ball in for a 24-yard touchdown run.
Olympian fell short of a win but their defensive worked hard to hold Poway’s offensive keeping the final score 14-0. Next week Olympian will take on Torrey Pines High School at home looking to take home their first victory. As for the Poway Titans, they will be taking on Ramona in an away non-conference game.
