One dead after collision on Deer Springs Road

SAN MARCOS (KUSI) – A collision on a two-lane North County road left one person dead Monday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Deer Springs Road, in an unincorporated area just north of San Marcos.

According to witnesses she lost control and crossed over the double yellow line into on coming traffic. Her vehicle spun around and was broadsided on the passenger side by a 2012 Chevy 2500 HD driven by a 38-year-old male from Temecula. He suffered minor to moderate injuries and was transported to Palomar Hospital.

The victim, a 37-year-old female from San Marcos, died at the scene of the accident. 

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in This collision.  It remains under investigation.

A Sigalert was issued at Deer Springs Road until further notice.
